When embassy legalisation is needed

Consular legalisation is mainly required for certain countries in the Middle East, Africa and Asia that have not joined the Hague Convention. The list changes: China (2023) and Canada (2024), for instance, joined recently and now accept the Apostille. We always check the latest rules for your destination.

Legalisation steps

1. Preparing the document – obtaining the original or a certified true copy and the notarised translation into the required language.
2. Authentication in Albania – the stamp of the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs on the document (and on the translation where required).
3. Embassy or consulate legalisation – submission and collection at the diplomatic mission of the destination country in Tirana or, where it has no mission in Albania, in another country of the region.
4. Delivery – we courier the legalised document to you anywhere in the world.
