A certified translation carries the translator's statement and signature confirming it is complete and accurate. A notarised translation goes one step further: a notary certifies the translator's signature. Most institutions in Albania and EU countries require notarised translations for official documents.

The Apostille itself does not expire, but the receiving institution may require the underlying document – e.g. a criminal record or family certificate – to be recently issued, often within 3 to 6 months.

For Albanian documents, yes. Regulation (EU) 2016/1191, which removes the Apostille for certain civil status documents, only applies between EU member states – not to documents issued in Albania.
